Job Description
The main function of a Content Editor is to write technical materials, such as equipment materials, appendices, or operating and maintenance instructions. A typical technical editor is responsible for organizing, editing and maintaining technical records and files.
Job Responsibilities:
• Organize material and complete writing assignment according to set standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style and terminology
• Maintain records and files of work and revisions
• Confer with client to establish technical specifications and to determine subject material to be developed for publication
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as computer science or english, journalism, communications
• 5-7 years experience required
• Experience in in creating documentation for a technical audience
• Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills
• Ability to read some programming code
• Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Job Requirements
• Years of experience required – 5-7 years of experience
• Degrees or certifications required – Bachelor’s degree (preferred)
• Disqualifiers – lack of experience, worked in editorial but not within this type of position specifically (quizzes, polls, editing strings that have been sent to them etc.),
• Best – Looking for someone that has had experience on this team (Start experiences, WebX, or Bing) in the past (preferred)
• Average – Editorial experience that is not directly in this field

• Performance indicators –
- Status report of jobs that the contractor has worked on – if they have been doing half the work as the other team it is a red flag
- If they are not getting satisfactory feedback on the work that they have submitted

Typical Day in the Role
• Typical task breakdown and operating rhythm –
- 100% Editorial work
• Interaction level with team – Vox team high interaction, the rest of the org is moderate. This is a reactionary role where we help those in the larger team.
• Chance for extension later? – yes, based on budget
• Expected working hours – 8am -5pm M-F, PST time zone only, 40 hours a week.
